From their very first electric shaver in 1937, Remington has made quality electric shavers for generations of men. Often touted as a more affordable line of shavers, their quality nevertheless is good. We also love that Remington Electric Shavers are made in the U.S.A.
Here we’ll review the best Remington shavers, ranging in price from under $50 to $180. As always, you usually get what you pay for, in terms of features. That’s not to say the lower-budget shavers aren’t perfectly suitable for some men. It’s all personal preference in what they want in an electric shaver.
We reviewed two foil shavers and two rotary shavers. One of the rotary shavers cost under $50 and both foil shavers cost more than $50, which is true in general in the industry (rotary shavers are often less expensive).
Before we begin, let’s take a look at how we rated the best Remington electric shavers.
How We Rated the Electric Shavers
When it comes to shaving, men want a close shave with no obstacles to getting out the door quickly…that means no nicks or cuts. They also don’t want to have to shave twice or even three times, just to get smooth results. Therefore in our reviews we looked for features on the Remington electric shavers which lifted the flat hairs, shaved them close, and delivered smooth skin even in the hard to reach areas of the face.
Then we looked for extras, like how long a charge takes and how long it lasts. There are a few more extras on the list of review criteria below, which is what we used to find the Best Remington Electric Shavers.
- close shave, even in difficult corners
- lifts hairs
- doesn’t cut
- the ability to shave both wet and dry
- how quick to fully charge
- how long does a full charge last
Top 4 Remington Electric Shavers
Remington MS2-390 Microscreen Rechargeable/Corded Men’s Shaver
This is a top-of-the-line electric shaver from Remington, the most expensive one we’ve reviewed from Remington. Therefore you’d expect it to have a full range of features, which it does. You get not one but two microscreens made of titanium. These are responsible for delivering the ultra-close shave that’s expected of a premium electric shaver like hte MS2-390.
You also get Remingtons’ CleanShave design, which allows the user to wash the shaver.
When fully charged, this model will deliver a full hour of cordless shaving, which is probably the best in the industry.
Remington Products XR1370 Hyper Series Rotary Shaver
This is a premium level rotary shaver, meaning you pay more for more premium features. It can be used either wet or dry and also features a full hour of cordless shaving after just one hour of charging up. Again, this is tops in the industry. The digital display indicating how much time is left on your current charge is a nice bonus feature, and not seen often in many shavers.
Customers love the travel-friendly features of the XR1380. While in your luggage, there’s no way for the shaver to accidentally turn on. This another hard-to-find feature in electric shavers.
The heads adjust nicely to every contour, making for a nice, close shave.
Remington AQ7A WetTech Rotary Shaver with Lithium Technology
The AQ7A WetTech Rotary Shaver is for men who don’t want to spend a lot but who want a brand name that means quality. This model gives value because it’s the least expensive shaver in this review, but it still keeps its charge for a full hour. What we loved about this Remington model was that it has a 5-minute quick charge. It allows for 3 minutes of shaving, in emergencies, after just 5 minutes of shaving. For some men, that secures the deal right there! It’s the good quality lithium battery that comes with this model that makes all the difference.
As the name implies, this model can be used in the shower or standing at the sink.
Remington F5-5800 Rechargeable Foil with Interceptor Shaving Technology
This is a Foil model, as opposed to a rotary shaver. However, it’s the least-expensive Remington model we reviewed, which goes to show you the foils aren’t always the expensive one. Again, you get the nice handy 5-minute quick charge, which means if you’re traveling and the battery went to zero in your luggage, you can get a quick shave anyways, after just 5 minutes of charging.
A full charge will leave this shaver with a nice long hour of cordless shaving. This model also has the very useful digital display, letting you know how many minutes are left in the current charge.
The foils move independently of each other, allowing a nice smooth shave. The blades are made of stainless steel so clean-up is easy. Finally, this one comes with a waterproof mirror, for shaving in the shower.
While all the Remington shavers reviewed give a nice close shave, it’s the features that make one in particular stand out. The travel feature on the XR1370 model is hard to resist. For any man who travels, the thought of the shaver turning on while packed away in the luggage is not only a hassle, it’s an obstacle to good business travel. Imagine traveling for a next-day meeting and your shaver is completely out of charge. The QuickCharge feature is nice (charging in 5 minutes, but only enough for a “QuickShave”!) but for a business event, you probably will want to shave more than three minutes. The other winning feature, not mentioned above, is how quiet this model is when shaving. Travelers will love this, too.
For men who don’t travel much, the feature of course is wasted. Therefore our other pick of the best Remington electric shavers is the MS2-390 Microscreen Rechargeable/Corded Men’s Shaver. This one has a reputation of lasting a long time, even long after the battery has died. That’s why it’s good that this particular model can be used with the cord, bypassing the whole battery thing altogether. Although there is no battery readout, this model has an excellent reputation for giving a very close shave with little or no irritation.
